Denice--

Have you ever read any of the John Katz books? He's a "trainer" and thought it was okay to let his border collie chase sheep for fun. Maybe your friend got his ideas from Mr. Katz's books. Ugh! I had a lady come here to my place in order to try her BC on the sheep. She had a few pet sheep at home, but had never trained or owned a working dog, and wanted to see if her newly acquired rescue BC had any working instinct/ability. The dog did not (at least not when he was here) but her Labrador, whom her husband allowed to roam freely around my yard, marking at will, was very interested in the sheep that were being moved around the round pen. The lady wanted to know if it would be okay to let "Fletcher" in to "play" with the sheep. She was kinda pissy when I explained to her that my sheep were not dog toys, and did not deserve to be harrassed in the name of "fun" for a Labrador. Never heard from her again.
